In this one appliance stops working due to some defect, then other appliance keeps working normally.
Each appliance have its own switch so they can be turned on or off separately.
Each appliance gets same voltage(220V) as that of power supply line.
The overall resistance of circuit will be less so the current from power supply will be high.
