Why we use use dot in .BMP

BMP is the BMP file format, also known as bitmap image file.

And we need to put (.) dot before BMP because BMP is a file format that defines the file type. And without (.) the file will not be accessible. And if there is no (.) then computer will not be able to distinguish between the name of the file and its type and wont be able to access it. That is why . is necessary along with the file format or type. Such as .BMP
