Why we use x,y and etc in Math????

these are the algebraic expressions . When we don't know the value of any digit or number we put the x,y or any alphabet in place of that number to find its correct value.

We can  use any letter in math , its not complsion that we only use x,y ,since these denotes any variable/constant.
