Why is the Weimar Republic unpopular in Germany?

The Weimar Republic is unpopular for several reasons:

First and foremost, it relied on the peace treaty of Versailles that put harsh reparations and restrictions on Germany. These reparations put a big weight on Germany's industry and economical power. That made the situation for Germans even worse when the financial crisis of 1929 happened.

The hatred that the Treaty of Versailles brought with it made another World War pretty much a certain cause. And you know, World War 2 was the darkest piece in our history.

Also, there is the fact that movements like those that led to the rise of the NSDAP, haven't been treated right. Chancellors at the time did not see the danger and did nothing against the ascending National Socialists.

Finally, the Weimar Republic wasn't a real republic, let alone a democracy. The constitution of the Republic gave way too much power to the Reichspräsident. If, for example, the president wants to introduce a new law and the parliament vetoes against it, the President can simply dissolve the parliament and reign without restrictions for 60 days using Emergency regulations. The worst part about that, however, is that the president can repeat that process for how often he wishes to. That means unrestricted power and this in return means a dictatorship
