Why were bacteria placed in the plant kingdom according to the two kingdom classification?

Bacteria are placed under plants because some of them can manufacture their own food and their locomotion is not as effective as animals.

Explanation:  

The two kingdom classification was done by Linnaeus; these organisms were classified based on locomotion and mode of nutrition. The mode of nutrition of plants is autotrophic whereas for animals it is heterotrophic and similarly plants cannot move effectively as animals, bacteria which also at times follow the autotrophic mode of nutrition was kept under this category.
