In the 1870's and early 1870's European countries such as France,Great Britain and Germany were looking towards Africa for its natural resources as these European nations were in need of these natural resources for the growth of industrial sector.

Therefore for their commercial interest these European nations sends their scout to Africa for securing treaties from indigeneous people.

In the 17th and 18th centuries, merchants from the towns in Europe began moving to the countryside, supplying money to peasants and artisans, persuading them to produce for an international market. The merchants could not expand production within towns because here urban crafts and trade guilds were powerful.
