why were Christian missionaries attacked by many people in the country? some people have supported them so?if so for what reason

Christians missionaries were attacked by many people in India because People of India don't want to change their religions (from hindu to Christian) so they attacked on them. While, some also supported them because, they want to become modern,they want to be educated so they supported them.

the main aim of Christian missionaries is to bring the change in their lives and preach gospel. but many disliked this because people don't like the development of others in our country. so they criticised them and they were attacked. for many years they banned the missionaries to not to enter India and preach the gospel. they banned because many people changed from Hindu to christian.

taking the real example there is a missionary call Saint Thomas who came to India and he was the first missionary to India he entered Kerala and and started preach the Christ and he worked for construction areas for living in Chennai.he changed a priest in near by temple and after some days he was killed by throwing spate in his body.
