Handmade products were preferred in Britain because:-
* Cheap labour was available in abundance and hence the wages were low and there was no problem in hiring labours.
* Machines produced only uniform goods but handmade goods were having different styles.
* Upper class - aristocrats and bourgeoisie preferred handmade goods because they symbolized refinement and class.

This is because :-
1) The upper classes preferred the expensive handmade products for their exclusiveness, which were not shared by all.
2) Handmade products were better finished, individually produced and designed carefully.
3) Handmade products came to symbolise refinement and class.
