Indians were unhappy during british rule because indians were not allowed to make their choices n had to pay taxes for their own grown things such as rice.

When the British came in India to establish their supremacy and rule the Indian subcontinent, it was met with a lot of resentment. Even though in the beginning part of this colonisation process the resentment was quite less.
Indians were unhappy under British rule as they started to be ruled by the British, the mughals were overthrown and there was a lot of oppression in every part of the country. All of this led to the Indians rising up in arms against these rulers which led to the struggle for independence.
