Number systems are the technique to represent numbers in the computer system architecture, every value that you are saving or getting into/from computer memory has a defined number system.

Answer:

Counting was invented thousands and thousands of years ago, when our ancestors first started developing their cognitive abilities. They started to aggregate things and hence counting their possessions. But in order to remember things, they needed to define a language. But they needed an easy way for counting, therefore the first thing that comes to mind is, we have ten fingers and we can therefore count ten things at once. This is when the decimal system started evolving, where everything involving counting was in some form of a number which can be counted using our fingers. This went on for long ages and some bright minds invented mathematics and the beautiful language that we know now. (Ofcourse the invention of 0 by Aryabhatta has a special significance, but that’s another story).
