hala mate,
Detailed surveys were carried out by the British to map all of India, and revenue surveys (to decide how much tax was to be collected from where) were conducted in villages in order to know the topography, the quality of soil, flora, fauna, cropping patterns, etc.
By the end of the 19th century, the British had started conducting census operations which provided information about the distribution of population in different provinces, castes, religions, and their occupations.
hope it helps!

After entering into the britishes to India to do a trade and the british members are ruled over 200 years. After that the british officers are conducted the revenue surveys (to collect the tax) .
the britishes are kept some workers to collect the tax (Zamindars ,or Doras) these Zamindars or doras are kept workers ( soldiers) the Zamindars or doras are attempt one leader .
If the britishes are said to collected the tax Rs.10 then the Zamindars or doras will say to the soldiers to collect Rs.12 then the leader (soldier) will say to collect to another soldiers Rs.14 the soldiers commission is Rs.2 , Zamindars or Doras commission Rs.2 and then the britishes commission to collect tax is 10 so,like this the revenue surveys will run
