Why were some women against voting rights for women in the United States?

they believed that the traditional role of a woman was as wife and mother and that being involved in politics diminished her femininity. Some women who were opposed to suffrage even formed organizations that tried to thwart the passage of the 19th Amendment. One such organization was the National Association Opposed to Woman Suffrage.
