Explanation:

'The Piper of Manas' is a lesson written

by Deepika Murthy.

The lesson is a true story about an

incident that took where a baby

Rhinoceros responds to nothing else but

how music changed him.

When the Brahmaputra flooded the

Kaziranga National Park on a storm,

a baby rhino loses the track of his

mother. Dr Subhendu Phukan, who was

a veterinarian from other national park

happens to notice this baby rhino who

seemed confused and shocked standing

on a tree.

As a vet, he understands that the baby

rhino needs attention and care. So he

brings the rhino home. He finds the

rhino in a manic state where he would

not respond for anything. He would not

have his food neither would he react to

anything.

But Dr Phukan's children Arnab and

Radhika get so excited about this cute

baby rhino. They kept watching him from

afar. Arnab is a flute player and when he

played the flute, Radhika danced to the

music. It gets wondrous as to how the

baby rhino responded to the flute while

nothing else could move him.

Finally, they found a way to get Baahi

(as the name given to the baby rhino by

the children) back to normal. Every time

Arnab played the flute, the Baahi would

come running and respond to the music.

Till then, no one studied the result of

music on animals like rhinoceroses. This

cute little rhino was so special.
