The idea that a horde of peasants could overthrow an ancient monarchy officially approved of by God, and execute the king, terrified all the other monarchies of Europe. They felt that it was imperative that the French Revolution fail so their own peasants didn't get the same idea. So they attacked, whether it was any of their business or not.
