The first elections were difficult to conduct because,
For the Indian government it is the first time to conduct elections. So
1)many errors could have occurred in deciding constituencies and voter list.
2) For most of the voters, it was their first opportunity to vote. Proper awareness might not be there in casting their vote. Most of them were illiterate.
3) India is a caste-based society in which many people did not accept
idea that everyone is equal.
4) Some people believed that elections were not suitable for a vast country like India.
5) Most of the women followed Purdah system and nearly 60 percent of women voters did not participate in voting.
6) Anyhow, the response of the people in casting vote for the first time was tremendous.
7) There was a large turnout of voters not only in urban areas but also in rural areas.
8) They celebrate the election day as a festival.
9)In this elections only some members are participated.​

The first election started in 1951-1952.It took four months to conduct these election.

it was based on universal adult franchise, every citizen who was 21 years of age or older had the right to vote.at that time there were more than 17,30,00,000 people who could vote.
