This question is from Indo-China War (Class X).

The answer is:

Introducing French education in Vietnam was thought essential to establish the superiority of the colonists and even to get the essential local staff who could be used to further strengthen the hold of the French. However, there was one basic dilemma regarding this. Many feared that if the Vietnamese were given all access to teh French education they could question the colonial domination and even raise against it. On the other hand some some French who were recruited in Vietnam that once the natives were educated there would a strict competition for several jobs which could lead to their losing the jobs.
