The introduction of modern innovation such as railway, telegraphs and western education was introduced by British before 1857, but these all are misunderstood by the Indian people. There were rumous that the telegraph poles were erected to hang people who were against the British rule. Similarly, the orthodox Indian noted that in the railway compartments the higher castes and the lower castes were made to sit side by side.
