\boxed{ Non-Cooperation \:Khalifat \:Movement}

The First World War had ended with the defeat of Ottoman Turkey. There were rumours that a harsh treaty was going to imposed on the Ottoman Empire. To defend the Khailafa's temporal powers, a Khalifat Committe was formed in Bombay. Leaders of Khalifat Committe was Muhammed Ali and Shaukat Ali. Gandhi saw this movement as a opportunity to unite Muslims and Hindus. At the Culcutta session of Congress, he convinced other leaders of the need to start a Non-cooperation movement in support of Khalifat as well as for Swaraj.

⏩Outcomes :-

✔️ Foreign goods were boycotted.

✔️ Liquor shops picketed.

✔️ Lawyer's gave up their legal practices in government courts.

✔️ Students and teachers left government controlled schools.

✔️ The council of elections were boycotted except in Madras.

But this movement gradually slow down :-

✔️ Khadi clothes was expensive and poor people could not afford to buy it.

✔️ Alternative Indian institutions were slow to come up. so students and teachers were back to the government controlled schools.

✔️ Lawyers joined back to the courts.
