The narrator and his companion were impressed by the two boys from Verona because they worked very hard and did many types of jobs such as shining shoes, hawking newspapers, conductinf tourists around town, selling fruits, running errands, etc in hot weather. Moreover, the even waited till late night for a bus from a nearby city in order to sell newspapers. The hardwork and diligence of the two boys impressed the narrator and his companion.
