the shudras were considered as the lower caste

in the ancient period,

they were nothing but slaves of the upper caste Brahmins who were the priests and scholars,

the shudras were not allowed in temples, festivals, gatherings, etc.

the shudras were not given water from the Brahmin's well,

they were not allowed to step in places were the Brahmins used to go,

thus due to these inequalities in the society they were deprived off their rights.
