why west bengal is called west bengal why not east bengal?
Answers
As u know, once Bangladesh was part of India and the whole West Bengal and Bangladesh was known together as Bengal.
To weaken the freedom fight movement, the British representative Lord Curson divided Bengal into West Bengal(now state in India) and East Bengal(now Bangladesh).
After India getting Independence, Pakistan got separated from India.
So East Bengal (now Bangladesh) was under Pakistan's control(it got renamed as East Pakistan)
The people of East Bengal want to separate from Pakistan.
So..the government of India at that time(During Indira Gandhi's regime) fought against Pakistan to bring freedom for Bangladesh. This was the reason behind the first Indo-Pak war.
Indian Army won the war and Bangladesh got freedom from Pakistan and it emerged as a new country...
So........
What if Pakistan and Bangladesh were India's Part?
➡️The Bengal of ancient era(combining West Bengal and East Bengal) was a pool of highly educated people, arts and literature...The first Nobel Prize Winner from Asia, Rabindranath Tagore(also wrote Nation Anthems of India and Bangladesh), Bankim Chandra Chatterjee, Swami Vivekananda, JC Bose, the names goes on....
Lord Curson divided the Bengal to weaken India's freedom fight movement and destroy the rich culture of Bengal.
India could have been a next level in literature if Bengal wasn't divided..
➡️Karachi in Pakistan was a big major sea port. During Pakistan-India division, many people, millions and millions had to leave their properties, businesses, etc which again made the country's(India) economy weaker..Also it was a major land route to Afganistan, and other countries.
If this venomous feeling of 'Religious extremism' wasn't injected into the nerves of the people, India could have been a great great country, not only in terms of wealth, but also in culture and prosperity!
Now people give no value for humanity.
What they care abt is religion.
They fight with each other claiming that their God is the most powerful! =_=
Don't these fools know that all Gods are same??? just like calling different names in different languages for a thing??
It's really Pity!

Explanation:
When India gained independence in 1947, Bengal was partitioned along religious lines. The western part went to India (and was named West Bengal) while the eastern part joined Pakistan as a province called East Bengal (later renamed East Pakistan, giving rise to independent Bangladesh in 1971).
