Hey mate here is your answer
Because West “Indians” is just a term for people inhabitating the West Indies. They are originally from the continent of Africa. There are people in Guyana and Trinidad of Caucasian, Indian (East India), and Chinese ancestry, those they are easily distinguished from the native black African population. The Africans there were brought as slaves into the British and Dutch colonies of the West Indies. The Chinese and Indians were brought as indenturer laborers and some as businessmen.
North America is inhabitated by Europeans mainly. South America is inhabitated by blacks, and indigenous South Americans aka Amerindians.
Hope this answer will help you!!
