Mediterranean region has dry summers with less or no rainfalls at all. Also, ​temperature in winters is not very cool (around 30-65 degrees) and summers are very hot (temperature reaches upto 72 degrees).
This is the reason why this area does not have adequate wildlife as compared to other climate types.

In winter westerlies bring in warm tropical air from the southwest warming up the weather conditions. In Mediterranean Europe, the rain-bearing westerlies chiefly affect the western areas.
