Why wet ink becomes dry
Answers
Wet ink becomes dry due to either EVAPORATION, ABSORPTION or OXIDATION.
Wet ink is essentially an aqueous colloidal solution made up of tiny pigment particles. An aqueous solvent may or may not contain colored pigment.
Three terminology can be used to illustrate how wet ink dries:
1. EVAPORATION: If you place it in room temperature, it's water evaporates due to the heat of the atmosphere.
2. ABSORPTION: The ink absorps into the paper in the same way that water soaks into a sponge.
3. OXIDATION: When exposed to air, the varnishes in the printed film solidify chemically and form a solid coating, which bonds the pigment to the printed surface.
