Why when white light passes through a prism dispersed only in seven colours. Why not dispersed in more colours or less than seven colours?

Because sunlight includes all the spectrum of light. When it refracts through a prism, its colors collapse to all the seven visible colours.

when white light passes through a prism is dispersed into seven colours because white consist of 7 colours..
so when it passes through prism it only splits into seven colours not more than that..

Well, it is not. Our eyes can only see those seven colours.
More on, there infrared rays and x rays below and above the lighe we see. :D
