Indians were unhappy during british rule because indians were not allowed to make their choices n had to pay taxes for their own grown things such as rice.

Indians were controlled by the Britishers and could not take an action of their own, lest they were killed. They lived in the shadow of the Britishers. They were given responsibility, but no power nor money.

Problems arose when the tribals were not allowed to practise shifting cultivation and to collect fruits, food and woods. The tribal chiefs lost many of their administrative powers and had to follow the rules which were formulated by the British. They also had to pay taxes to the British.

the taluqdars and kings were made the zamindars. in the permanent settlement, the revenue was fixed really high and they had to take loans to pay the revenue. ==> due to the burden of loans on their heads, they were unhappy with the british
