Why will lions become extinct if a forest disappears?

They will not have a home then. If it comes to city we will naturally kill it for our safety. They may not have proper food. Ultimately if a forest disappears lions and other animals too will become extinct. I can assure that. They may live in zoos and sanctuaries. But it is not like their home.
