Why would cells need oxygen? (Hint:- the function of mitochondria studied earlier provide a clue to this question)

Our body cells need oxygen to release the energy as we breathe in oxgygen that is required to break down the food with the process of respiration and thus cells take up oxygen and as a result of respiration cells release energy.
