Being non- polar it is not water soluble due to which it just behaves like the soap and form misscelles due to which the clothes become clean.

Welcome friend,

● Explaination -
- First of all, it's dry cleaning so we can't use water to wash these clothes.
- Greese is a non-polar substance stuck as dirt to our clothes.
- To dissolve a non-polar substance you need a non-polar solvent.
- Therefore, dry-cleaners use tetrachloroethylene to remove greese from clothes.

Hope this helps you.
