In the story 'How I Taught My Grandmother To Read' Sudha Murty describes that the weekly magazine 'Karamveer" came every Wednesday to their village and the people would wait eagerly for the bus to arrive, for there in the magazine came the story 'Kashi Yatre' which everyone wanted to read. So, we can see that the villagers passed their time by reading/listening to the stories written by Triveni as they could identify with the characters in her story.
