Xylem and phloem are an example of complex permanent tissues. These tissues are named so because they are made up of more than one type of cells and all these different types of cells coordinate to perform the same function. They ultimately achieve the same goal despite their different structures and function.

Xylem carries water and minerals from the roots to the leaves. Whereas, phloem carries the food prepared by the leaves to different parts of the plant.

I hope this will help you in your work

Explanation:

Xylem and Phloem are called complex tissues bcoz they are made of more than one type of cells

Xylem consists of tracheids, xylem paranchyma, vessels and xylem fibres.

the cells has thick walls and most of them are dead.

Xylem can transport water and minerals vertically.

Phloem consists of sieve tubes, phloem fibres, phloem paranchyma and companion cells.

except for phloem fibres, phloem cells are living cells.

In phloem, materials can move in both directions in it.
