Why yeast not placed in protozoa ??

The yeast is placed in fungi because,

1)Yeast reproduces sexually with the production of ascospores.

2)The have cell wall made of chitin.

3)They have haploid nuclei.

Now,

All three characteristics are of fungi.So yeast belongs to fungi

Protists have diploid nuclei.It is the reason why yeast is not a protist even when it is unicellular.
