zinc compound contain zn^2+ ion. Since it is evident from the electronic configuration Cu^2+ ion contains 1 unpaired electron which can undergo d-d transition. Thus Cu compounds are coloured. In case of Zn^2+ there is no unpaired electron for the transition thus zinc compound are colourless.
