What is a table width? What about table length? How tall is my table? How can I figure out the diameter of a table?

Here at TableSkirtingClip.com, we know these terms well because we work with them every day. But for many it's hard to determine the dimensions of their table -- though it doesn't have to be!

Here's what we can take from the illustration above:

-A table's LENGTH are the longest sides. The rectangular table pictured is a 6 foot banquet table. So, the length of the table is 72 inches.

-A table's WIDTH are the shorter sides. The rectangle table shown has a width of 30 inches. Some tables have different widths, though many standard banquet tables are 30 inches wide. It always helps to measure.

(Note: for square tables, the length and width are the same dimension. A 4 foot square table, for example, will measure 48"L x 48"W.)

-A table's HEIGHT is measured from the top of the edge down to the floor. The tables shown both have a height of 30 inches, which is common for many tables. Again, using a tape measure and double checking is always suggested.

-A table's DIAMETER, which is only used for measuring round tables, can be found by measuring across the top of the table (end to end) -- from the widest part of the table. The round table pictured above has a diameter of 72 inches.

(Note: finding the height for a round table is the same as a square or rectangular table; just measure from the table edge down to the floor.)

That wasn't too difficult! But knowing these dimensions can really help us figure out the best table linen sizes for our customers, especially since all tables are not made to the same specifications. (Some rectangular tables are only 24 inches wide, for example.)

It's especially important to know all of the dimensions before placing an order for Tablecloths, Fitted Tablecloths, or Table Skirting. Knowing the table dimensions can be the difference between ordering the best size, and ordering a size that won't work.

Tip: If you're shopping for tablecloths, now that you know your table's measurements you can head on over to our Tablecloth Size Calculator and find the perfect size for your table!
