Wild colonies of Bees can be found in hollow trees or in the cavities of walls. However,Bees that are kept for their honey, live in man-made hives, looked after by a beekeeper.Inside the hive, the Bees build many cells out of wax. These cells are for storing honey and pollen and for the larvae to grow in. There are three kinds of Bees;the queen, the workers and the drone. The queen is the largest Bee and there is only one queen in each hive. Her job is to lay eggs and she hardly leaves the hive. Once she starts laying eggs, she can live for as long as four years.

Drones are male Bees and workers are female Bees. The adult workers do many jobs. Some of them feed the larvae or build and clean the cells. Others look for nectar and pollenin flowers and turn the nectar into honey. Each Bee carries the nectar in a special place in her stomach. She collects the pollen on her furry body and in pollen baskets found on her hind legs .When she returns to the hive, she empties the nectar from her stomach.Worker Bees live between five weeks and six or more months.Wild colonies of Bees can be found in hollow trees or in the cavities of walls.
