when one half of a convex lensis covered with a black paper this lens produces a complete image of the object .

to prove it we perform an experiment

take a convex lens and cover other halve of the lens using a black paper.place it vertically on a stand on one side of it place a burning candle. on opposite side of the lens place the screen. adjust the position of candle until a clear image is formed on the screen. we observe that a complete image is formed.

the image is formed as rays are passing through the side of lens which is not covered.

however the brightness of the image is reduced
