The density of ice is 0.917 grams per cubic centimetre, that of water is 1. So ice , being less dense than water will float. So in some oils the ice will float and in other the ice will sink.

Hey mate☺️

ρoctane = 0.75⋅g⋅mL−1 ; of course it should be less dense than water due to the well-known fact that it floats on water. And thus ice ( ρice = 0.92⋅g⋅mL−1 ) would certainly sink in gasoline (or petroleum ether, the which we would use in the lab).

Hope it works ♥️
