As pressure increases, the temperature requirement for this equilibrium decompositionincreases very rapidly. It increases so fast that in fact, at above 80 bar, the calcium carbonate will melt into a liquid (call it calcium carbonate magma or lava) instead ofdecomposing to lime and carbon dioxide.
