A change to the prairie ecosystem has caused the population of prairie dogs to decrease, or go down. This is affecting predators such as ferrets from finding enough food. This change is also causing the grass on the prairie to grow rapidly.

ferrets should be provided another food on which they could feed.
and because, they could feed on little birds so, they should introduced in the ecosystem .if they get their food then the imbalance caused to ecosystem can be overcome and problem can be solved.
because every organism is linked to each other through a food chain therefore I hope this idea could help to improve the situation.

hope it helps and you are satisfied .
