If we consider all ideal situations (the object is not compressible, no change in dimensions of the object due to any sort of temperature change etc.), the only way to reduce mass of an object will be reducing its quantity (breaking it , cutting it etc.) ... Vice versa, a change in volume will imply a change in mass.
