In this scene we can see Portia and Nerissa gossiping about all the suitors that have cone in order to woo Portia. Portia tells Nerissa that she dislikes the casket rule and tells her that she can not do anything but abide to the rules. She tells her that the will of a living daughter had been obstructed by a dead father. Even though she expressed her hate for the casket rule, she still respected her father's wishes and did not break them. She was ready to follow the rules which decided who she would spend the rest of her life with.
this tells us that Portia was a loyal and loving daughter. She was trustworthy and respected her father's wishes.
