Will the angular momentum of the planet is conserved?justify your answer

yes because in a system of particles the total mass cannot change.However the total moment of inertia can.If a set of particles decreases it's radius of rotation decreases the moment of inertia.Hence angular momentum is conserved under such circumstances.I hope you understand.
