Will the goverment intervene if some religious group says that their religions allow them to practise infanticide give reasons

Yes the government will definitely intervene. This is because India is a secular country. That is equal treatment of all religions by the state(government basically). The government does not intervene in religious practices if it does not effect an individual or the well being of the people. Practices like wearing burkha or hijab are not questioned by the government. this is because it does no harm to the society. But infanticide is a practice of killing innocent children. Which is a crime. It is not a healthy practice. Hence it is the government's duty to do justice to those who are being killed and interfere. The government has the right to interfere in religious practices if they pose a threat. Another example of government intervening in religious practices can be that of Sati, that is burning the wife of a dead husband alive on the pure. This practice was inhumane. Also the practice of child marriage. Both of these issues were dealt with the government and was made illegal. I hope this helps.
