Hey.
When a person jumps from any high altitude it will always have some acceleration near to acceleration due to gravity (g) if he is not using any decelerating agent like parachute .
Parachute works on the principal that it has a large surface area which helps it to trap air below it and hence the friction is generated and motion is retarded .
Pressure is inversely proportional to area.
P = F / A
where F is the weight of the person.
For the same weight the area will be higher for the person with parachute and hence effective weight or pressure will get reduced resulting in retardation in the motion .
As the motion gets retarded it won't be having the same speed as in case of a freely falling person without parachute .
A man without parachute will always come down with a speed higher than that with a parachute as there will be very rare retardation in the motion.
Thanks.
