Will the object of a cube with an edge length of 10 centimeters and a mass of 2 kilograms sink or swim in the water? The density of water is 1000 kg / m3. Any body whose density is greater than the density of water will sink while any body whose density is less than the density of water will swim. Will the cube sink or swim?

Answer:

Length of edge = 10 cm = 0.1 m

Volume of cube = (0.1 m)³ = 0.001 m³

Mass of cube = 2 kg

Density of cube = Mass/Volume = (2/0.001) kg/m³ = 2000 kg/m³

Density of water = 1000 kg/m³

Density of cube > Density of water

Hence, the cube would sink in the water.

Answer:

The cube will sink because it's density is greater than the density of water.

Explanation:

Given, mass of the object = 2 kilogram

and, Length of each side = 10 cm = 0.1 m

Since the object is a cube,

Therefore, Volume = side³ = (0.1)³ = 0.001

hence density of the cube = mass/volume

= 2 / 0.001

= 2000 / 1

= 2000 kg / m³

Since, the density of the object is greater than the density of water (2000 > 1000).

Hence, the object of density 2000 kg / will sink in water of density 1000 kg / m³.
