By converse of phythagores theorem

given =. Ac2 = AB2 + BC2

To prove - angleB = 90°

Rather than the ∆ aBC

Then we have to construct a right angled PQR right angled at Q such that PQ = AB and QR =

BC

Now , from PQR , we have

PR2 = PQ2+ QR2

PR2 = AB2 + BC2 (. by construction) 1

Ac2 = AB2 + BC2 ( given) 2

so, Ac = PR (from 1,2 ) 3

Now in ABC and PQR ,

AB = PQ ( by construction)

BC = QR ( by construction)

AC = PR ( proved in3 above)

ABC~= PQR ( asa congruency)

Therefore,. angle B = angle Q ( CPCT )

angle Q = 90° [ by construction ]

angle B = 90°

Hence,proved
