will the weight of a kg of iron in air and the weight of a kg of cotton in air
be equal? Why?

Density of cotton is less than iron so it would have more volume. So 1kg cotton will displace more air particles than iron. ... Therefore 1 kg of cotton will weigh more than 1 kg of iron when weighed on a weighing machine.
