Some say Linux is better, but most don't even know there is an operating system based on Linux. If you go out and ask random people about Ubuntu, Fedora, Mint… most of them will not say a thing about those. Why? To begin with, Windows comes preinstalled with most laptops nowadays. Microsoft Windows has been the preferred OS for companies like HP, Dell, Lenovo and that made it popular. Therefore, most software is developed for Windows and MacOS.
That means that the most popular programs and games are not available for Linux (at least not without using some tricks) and most people don't like to use alternative/inferior products.
Another reason I can think of is familiarity. Most of us grew up using Windows and will favor Windows over others.
I’d like to add that Linux is not superior to Windows. Sure, there are things that Linux does better, but using Windows has some advantages too.
I like both.
