Winds
Winds blow from high pressure areas to low
pressure areas. Winds that cross large water bodies
bring rainfall on land while winds that cross large
landmasses are dry. Moist winds that rise up a
mountain slope bring rain but when they blow
down a slope they are dry. Can you tell why?
Monsoon winds play a very important role in
determining the climate of India. The south west
monsoons coming from the Indian Ocean bring
most of India's rainfall between the months of June
und September. The north east monsoons are cold
winds that blow from the land in winter bringing
old waves to the northern parts of the country,
