Mitochondria are a membrane-bound organelle present in the cytoplasm of all eukaryotic cells. It is responsible for producing Adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the main energy currency of the cell.Mitochondria are double membrane enclosed cell organelles found in the cell cytoplasm. It has many functions but by far the most important role that it possesses is as the cells power plant. It provides energy in the form of ATP from the breaking down of sugar molecules.

Plastids are responsible for photosynthesis, storage of products like starch, and for the synthesis of many classes of molecules such as fatty acids and terpenes, which are needed as cellular building blocks and/or for the function of the plant.
